Sand Art Workshop Sept.2, 2012 Puerto Princesa City

One of my workshops in Dos Palmas Island Resort and Spa, Palawan.
The children enjoyed the new art medium I introduced to them, they were amazed that from lowly material called sand which is very abundant in their area could be used to create art .

new approach utilizing mostly lines, swirls and patterns are the usual norms of expression..

sand art

what to do with sand?
after a days workshop in El Nido workshop..

old wine bottles could be one of the products for sand art.

my student's output in one of my workshops in the town of El Nido, Palawan.

my sand art bottles in my studio
here's some of the artworks utilizing these lowly materials..

Faith

sway with the wind
After seven years of staying in an island resort  as resident artist, it still really hard to find an inspiration.I thought staying in an island could silent my screaming voice to look and search for subjects to become my focal point, but still I am drowned by familiar sights, that i see everyday..

I should have created a blog a long time ago but, everyday life here is distracting, even though there's an internet connection. Life itself is always manifesting in everything..even nature,..there is always start and end to everything. The cycle in its redundancy, become a common place, albeit monotonous.
The wind tonight is cold and stale, did chance empathize with me? or its a mockery that we all living things should be contented to sway with the wind?

My painting above I created in 2007 speaks well of my present condition..

workshop

I will be conducting sand art workshops with school children aged 7 to 11 years old. The materials are ready now in the workshop area, later at 2:00 pm this afternoon.
my student's output

fish pattern done by one of my students
I have been developing sand art since 2005 for the purpose of introducing alternative art materials for the impoverish children with talent, conventional materials are expensive nowadays, I hope through this, I could help enhance the children, lack of art materials should not be an excuse to the development of one's talent.
